Course Summary
Through the study of World History students will acquire skills and knowledge to help them become responsible citizens of the world. Furthermore, the course serves as the foundation for future Social Studies classes. World History introduces the foundations of civilization, government, and current theories. The goals and objectives are drawn from disciplines of research, investigation, and historical documents.
Course Goals
1. To improve reading, writing, and critical thinking skills as they relate to historical subjects and sources.
2. To assist you in understanding and appreciating World History.
3. To increase the student’s overall knowledge of World History.
4. To prepare the student’s for success in future Social Studies courses including Honors and AP where applicable.
Student Expectations
· Students will be prepared for class every day with supplies and materials
· Students will be IN their seats working on the warm-up WHEN the bell rings (NOT moving towards their seats when the bell rings)
· Students will demonstrate respect to the teacher and to their classmates
· Students will complete their own homework, class work, quizzes, and tests (refer to honor code in the classroom)
· Cheating will NOT be permitted
· Students will be responsible for missed assignments
· Students will NOT drink or eat in class
** If for some reason a student does not follow the expectations he/she will receive a verbal warning for the first offense, a call/email home for the second offense, a parent-teacher conference for the third offense, and the fourth offense will result in administrative discipline.

3-Ring Binder (Can be shared with other classes but must be 3” if shared)
Loose leaf paper or 3 subject spiral bound notebook
Pens/Pencils

Absentee/Make-up Policy
If you are absent from school it is your responsibility to make up the work you missed. All work must be made up within FIVE days, unless special circumstances arise. If this is the case, it is your responsibility to speak with me. Your classmates will be your first point of contact for missed information (notes, class assignments, etc.). Any absences over 10 days total for the semester (excused or unexcused) will need to be recovered following the recovery procedures.
Late/Missing Assignments
If you were in attendance when an assignment was given and do not turn the assignment in on its due date, the assignment automatically becomes a grade of 60. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you were absent when an assignment was given and do not turn the assignment in within FIVE days of your absence, the assignment will automatically become a 60. If you fail to turn in the assignment before the Test for the Unit in which the assignment was given then you will receive a 0 for that assignment and will not be allowed to make-up the assignment.
